Dory is American's best known Paralympic Cyclist and one of the top Paralympic athletes in the world. He is currently soliciting sponsorship to support his campaign to the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. Dory has recently completed a two and a half year certification program in Prosthetics and Orthotics, which interfered with his ability to compete in the 2004 Paralympic Games. He has now returned to training in earnest while pursuing his career as a Prosthetist.
Dory has won multiple medals in Paralympic Track Cycling, Golds, Silvers, and Bronzes. He has won the United States National Cycling Championships numerous times in track cycling, road racing and in time trials. Dory was the 2002 World Champion in the Kilo, the 2001 and 1999 European Track Champion and holds two World Records and all United States Records for BK amputees on the Velodrome. His next UCI track calendar event competition is the LA Cycling Classic and he will also race in the US Paralympic Track Cycling Championships , both events are on October 7 and 8, 2005.
Since the assault that took his right leg below the knee in 1993, Dory has met monumental challenges and achieved distinctive status in the Cycling world. Through National and World exposure, Dory has made many friends and admirers. Everyone who cycles competitively and a major portion of Sunday cyclists know of him. The media at home and abroad extensively covers Dory's accomplishments. For example, on Sunday July 1, 2001, he was on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle's Bay Area Living Section.
